The Killers' Glamourous Indie Rock'n'Roll Doesn't Disappoint
The Killers smashed it on the Main Stage tonight – coming off stage to a rapturous reception.
Starting off with Glamourous Indie Rock’n’Roll, Brandon Flowers sauntered on stage in the late afternoon sun in some very tight black skinny jeans which had the girls (and the boys!) screaming. The sound from the crowd was deafening, with the stage shrouded in dry ice as the beginning notes of Reasons Unknown kicked in.
Fans sang back the words of Somebody Told Me, echoing every single note to a delighted Brandon, who seemed genuinely humbled at the massive response.
We love to see a band who are enjoying their performance, and we have to say, these guys looked like they were having the time of their lives up there today.
A faint, teasing intro on the keyboards was immediately detected and pounced on by the fans as Smile Like You Mean It, and the likes of Bones and Human were lapped up, the crowd moving together fluidly, mirroring Brandon’s movements.
He took time between songs to thank each member of the band, to huge cheers.
The lighters came out for their synthed-up version of Moon River, and the rainfall didn’t stop the elation felt from all as they eased into Read My Mind.
An enormous collective scream signalled the start of Mr. Brightside, a reaction that was paralleled by the opening notes of another epic classic All These Things. The latter closed with huge jets of confetti, much to the delight of the packed audience.
Chants of, “we want more! We want more!” echoed throughout Hyde Park as they left the stage – and did they disappoint?
Of course not. They gave the fans what they wanted and returned to the stage for a huge rendition of Jenny an in a blizzard of purple, orange and blue light.
What a way to end an incredible Friday at Hard Rock! Bring on tomorrow!
